Louisville’s Diversity Shines

No matter who you love or where you’re from, Louisville is the perfect place for you and your company! We are proud of the milestones we've achieved in making Louisville a more inclusive and compassionate place to live, work, and visit.

In addition to maintaining a perfect score on HRC’s Municipal Equality Index, Louisville was one of the first city in the South to pass a LGBTQ+ Fairness Ordinance, and Louisville Metro Government was one of the first Southern cities to extends benefits to employee's domestic partners.

The University of Louisville maintains five stars in the Campus Pride Index and was the first public university in the South ranked among the “Best of the Best.” Its medical school also piloted the first medical student training for targeted LGBTQ healthcare needs, and it was the first university in the country to offer a LGBTQ+ Studies minor.

Being welcoming is not just about who you love either - Louisville was the second city in the U.S. to be a certified Welcoming City for immigrants and refugees by Welcoming America, and we have the largest Cuban population in the U.S. outside of Florida. More than 150 languages are spoken in our public schools, and Louisville Metro Government has an office - Office for Immigrant Affairs - dedicated to serving our immigrant and refugees populations, as well as helping Louisville compete in an international and multicultural world.
